Hyperion – Unique ‘Green Architecture’ Building in India ‎

The Hyperion building in New Delhi, India, designed by Belgian architect Vincent Callebaut, draws inspiration from a tree known as Hyperion. This tree holds the title of being the tallest in the world, reaching a height of 115 meters.

A uniquely designed project following the ‘self-sustaining’ model, the ecological building stands at 36 stories and comprises 1,000 apartments, along with office spaces, coworking areas, gym facilities, restaurants, and a swimming pool.

The Hyperion building is designed with green vegetable farms and small-scale livestock production for eggs and milk. The agricultural crops cultivated on the building include grains, legumes like beans and pumpkins, aiming to contribute to a healthier environment.

The plan is for each square meter in this farm to yield 20 kg of organic fruits and vegetables. The harvested products will be sold through local commercial outlets.

The building is equipped with solar panels for energy generation, utilizing wind turbines and a photovoltaic system. Additionally, agricultural by-products from the farms will be converted into methane gas to generate energy for use within the building. Rainwater will be collected for irrigation and groundwater replenishment.

The project is anticipated to be completed within this year. Architects state that Hyperion is a sustainable agricultural initiative with climate-resilient capabilities, attributed to its robust ecosystem and healthy environment.
